iRis was established in 2009 as a subsidiary of a leading technology group. We are a grower, producer and exporter company with agricultural operations in Ayvalik and Salihli-Manisa regions. iRis grows Peach, Apricot, Nectarine, Apple, Grape and Olives with a main focus on stone fruits.
Globalgap certified apricots, peaches and nectarines are exported mainly to Russia and European countires. Having "Smart Agriculture - Healthy Food" as our motto, we are working to reach our targets in making best use of current resources, providing efficient and and sustainable production and developing and deploying related technologies to enable nutrient rich and healthy food which can be consumed safely.
The world needs to produce at least 50% more food to feed 9 billion people by 2050. But climate change could cut crop yields by more than 25%. The land, biodiversity, oceans, forests, and other forms of natural capital are being depleted at unprecedented rates. Unless we change how we grow our food and manage our natural capital, food security—especially for the world’s poorest—will be at risk. (World Bank, 2016)
To mitigate this risk it is important to understand the importance of smart agriculture technologies and sustainable farming. Beside developing technology in agriculture and food production ; iRis also applies them in its owned orchards.
